The Best Places to see Comedy in Napa Valley

After a day of food, wine, and festivity, end your night in Napa Valley with laughter. There are a few venues here in wine country that offer a variety of comedic shows from theatre and improv to classic stand-up comedy featuring talented local and national comics. Here are the best comedy clubs to laugh the night away on your Napa Valley vacation.

Charles Krug Summer Comedy Series

Visit the oldest winery in Napa Valley for an unforgettable night of wine and comedy. Every summer, Charles Krug Winery presents a comedy series held in their historic Carriage House in St. Helena. Join a talented lineup of comedians and enjoy a glass of your favorite Charles Krug wines. Still to come this summer, Oakland-based comic Krista Fatka, and the hilarious Gloria Bigelow, a featured performer on Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious. For more information about the series and Charles Krug’s celebrated heritage, visit Charles Krug.

Uptown Theatre

Located in downtown Napa’s historic West End district, the Uptown Theatre hosts some of the biggest names in music and comedy. The beautifully restored art deco building dates back to 1937, and has hosted past comedic acts like Kathy Griffin and Ron White. The upcoming summer lineup is packed with comedy kings and queens, like Grammy-award nominee Tig Notaro, known for her dark comedy and deadpan humor. Also to come to the intimate historic theatre this summer, the hilarious Colin Jost, known for his work on Saturday Night Live, both as a writer and host of the Weekend Update segment.

Lucky Penny Community Arts Center

Unlike the historic Uptown Theatre, the Lucky Penny Community Arts Center was solely designed to be a community space for all forms of community art groups. In addition to various performing arts, Lucky Penny produces special presentations by comedians, from stand-up to comedic theatre. Still to come this summer is Comedy Night with Johnny Steele, an award-winning comedian and host of KRON/Bay TV’s THE SHOW. Look for the world premier of the Napa Valley comedy, The Tasting Room by Barry Martin later this summer. Martin’s play is about a struggling Napa Valley winery given the opportunity to turn things around. Keep an eye out for more events at Lucky Penny, like their recurring Comedy Nights featuring an array of local stand-up performers.
