The Napa Valley’s American Folk Art Festival recently celebrated its 10th annual anniversary, but decided to shelve the fest to focus on it’s latest tradition – the Holiday Fest. They’re putting all they've got into the Annual Folk Art Holiday Festival to bring local artist’s creations to you in time for the holidays. Here’s everything you need to know about the Holiday Fest.
There is no one definition of folk art, so expect to see a little bit of everything at the festival. Expect handmade, decorative, and upcycled gifts. There is usually no formal training in folk art, so artist’s imaginations run wild! Cultural elements or social issues are often at the forefront. Folk art may change over time, but it has always been all-inclusive - no matter your class, status, ethnicity, gender or religion, you’ll see yourself represented.
Browse artistic, unusual, and uncommon winter season and holiday art, antiques, home décor, and more from local collectors, folk artists, and antique dealers. Find the perfect handmade creations and treasured finds on your Napa Valley getaway.
Take a peek at the Holiday Festival’s list of artists and dealers who will be in attendance to get a jump start on your visit. Check out Caron Hibbens original vintage jewelry or Gail Laird’s handmade miniature painted wooden buildings and textiles. We’re excited to see Vickie Lamoe’s antique hunting finds and primitive Americana collectibles. Even if you just drop by for a browse, the artwork on display is pretty magical.
Guests will have the opportunity to try Madonna Estate’s annual wintry release, created especially for the American Folk Art Holiday Festival. This year, their Estate Bottled 2016 HoliDaze Pinot Noir is giving us all the holiday feels, with hints of ripe berry fruit and toasty oak and vanilla aromas and velvety berry and spice on the palate. This organic Pinot Noir pairs well with all your holiday favorites – prime rib, roasted vegetables and mushrooms, roasted turkey, tomato-based pasta dishes, and salmon. Check out the label artwork by local artist Dave Huddleston and get ready to try this wine (chocolate pairing option available!) at the festival. You’ll also receive a complimentary logo tasting glass and logo tote.
Light snacks, soft drinks, and cocktails will also be available for purchase. So sit back, have a drink, and begin planning your holiday festivities.
It all kicks off this Saturday (November 17th) from 10 am – 3 pm at Napa’s Lucky Penny Community Arts Center at 1758 Industrial Way. Your $10 admission fee and all proceeds help improve the nonprofit to keep it affordable and accessible.
